The FEC approves BUA Cement's N120 billion funding for the rehabilitation of the Lokoja-Benin road.

The Federal Executive Council (FEC) has given the green light for the rehabilitation of the Okpella section of the Lokoja-Benin road and additional segments. BUA Cement will spearhead the funding with N120 billion, utilizing Nigeria's government tax credit scheme for financing. Bayo Onanuga, the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, shared this update through his official communication channel following the FEC meeting on Tuesday. He stated, "During Day 2 of the FEC meeting, approval was granted for the contract award encompassing the equalisation of the Lokoja-Benin Road, Okpella Section, the dualisation of the Auchi Section-Uromi Link Road, and the Ekpoma Section of the Lokoja-Benin Road." Onanuga also revealed that BUA Cement will undertake the reconstruction of the road, which recently witnessed a fuel tanker accident resulting in villagers having to swim to rescue the occupants. This reconstruction project, amounting to N120 billion, will be financed through the tax credit scheme. Additionally, he announced the award of contracts for various road projects nationwide, including Kaima-Tesse in Kwara State, Benin-Agbor, Benin Bypass, and Ngaski-Wara in Kebbi State, with an estimated total cost of around N546 billion.
