ENIGIE VS OBA OF BENIN

The Special Adviser on Media Projects to Edo State Government has come out to clarify the issue of the government involvement in the court case against our revered Royal Father, Omo N’Oba N’Edo Uku Akpolokpolo, Oba Ewuare II, the Oba of Benin. He stated that the rumour making the rounds on social media of an impending court case is the handiwork of enemies of the State and should be disregarded and that the matter being referenced has Edo State Government as a defendant, which means the State government is being sued. He placed on record that the State Government maintains a cordial relationship with the Royal Palace and holds the Omo N’Oba N’Edo Uku Akpolokpolo, Oba Ewuare II, Ogidigan, in high esteem and therefore the rumour should be discountenanced in its entirety. In a similar vein, the Oba of Benin, Omo N’Oba N’Edo Uku Akpolokpolo, stated on ITV Benin that people cannot bring up issues that will bring the State down. HRM said that the issue on ground is not a political appointment, but a traditional assignment and therefore commended His Excellency, Godwin Obaseki, for not acceding to the request of those who spearheaded the petition in November, 2022, which is seeking creation of parallel Benin traditional Councils. The Royal Father promised to continue to work hard to defend the legacies of the ancestors and also called upon all loyalist to rally support and defend Benin culture and tradition.
