Portable apprehended by police over outstanding debt for G-Wagon purchase

The Lagos State Police Command has officially acknowledged the apprehension of the renowned musician, Habeeb Okikiola, better known as Portable, on allegations of defaulting on payments for a G-Wagon he purchased from a local car dealer. According to reports, Portable had entered into an agreement to procure the luxury vehicle for a sum of N27 million. However, he only disbursed N13 million upfront and subsequently refused to settle the outstanding balance of N14 million. It appears that Portable consistently evaded requests for payment, claiming dissatisfaction with the quality of the vehicle whenever the dealer pursued him for the outstanding sum. Despite repeated attempts to amicably resolve the issue, Portable persisted in his refusal to honor the financial commitment. Faced with this impasse, the aggrieved car dealer eventually escalated the matter to the authorities, prompting law enforcement intervention. In response to inquiries, Benjamin Hundeyin, the Public Relations Officer for the Lagos State Police, confirmed Portable's arrest. Hundeyin elucidated that Portable's apprehension stemmed from his failure to fulfill the financial obligations associated with the G-Wagon purchase, despite having possession of the vehicle. He emphasized that Portable's noncompliance with the payment terms necessitated police intervention, leading to his detention on the specified charges.
